The following menus were created in less than 10 minutes using external graphic application to created the backgrounds. I use DVD Menu Studio - it's very simple to use. What ever package you use you need to produce images with the following resolutions.
PAL: 768x576 NTSC: 720x540
I would also recommend saving as 24 bpp bitmaps.
