Getting started with SVCD2DVD v2.0

Using the Auto Fit feature.

The Auto Fit feature allows you to encode your AVI assets to the best quality whilst making sure the results will fit on a 4.37GB DVDR.

Note: This feature is only enabled when AVI assets are in the asset window.

By default SVCD2DVD will encode AVI assets at a bitrate of 6000Kbs. In general this allows around 1 hour 40 minutes of AVI material to fit on a 4.37GB DVDR. If you wanted to produce a DVD from AVI material with more or less duration then AutoFit will adjust the bitrate accordingly.

To use Auto Fit:

1. Load up your AVI assets by dragging and dropping from Windows Explorer:

We can see here that the total duration of the AVI assets is approx 2 hours 50 mins. That is way to much to fit on a 4.37GB DVDR if it is encoded at 6000Kbs.

2. Add the assets to a TitleSet

Once your assets are part of a TitleSet SVCD2DVD will include them in the DVD capacity indicator:

So at the default encoding bitrate of 6000Kbs the final DVD will be 7.63GB!

3. Click on the Auto Fit button:

SVCD2DVD now adjusts the encoding bitrate so that the result will fit on to a 4.37GB DVDR:

You can now author your DVD. When the processing starts we can see that 3320Kbs has been deduced as the bitrate to ensure that the results fit on a DVDR:

Summary

  • Always use Auto Fit when you have AVI assests.
  • Auto Fit will reduce the encoding bitrate if the duration of your AVI assets is too big.
  • Auto Fit will increase the encoding bitrate if the duration of your AVI assets allows it.
  • Quick DVD will perform Auto Fit as part of its one click process.
